The City of Roseburg, Oregon is reporting a data breach that occurred in August 2024, exposing personal information of city residents. 

The incident began with a network disruption on August 4, 2024, triggered an investigation by the city government with the assistance of independent cybersecurity experts.

Forensic analysis determined that unauthorized access to certain data had occurred. The exposed data includes:

  • Names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license or state identification card information
  • Health insurance information
  • Passport numbers
  • Payment card information
  • Taxpayer identification numbers
  • Additional unspecified personal data

The city has not disclosed the nature of attack and the number of affected individuals.

The city has sent notifications to potentially affected residents on February 14, 2025 and is offering complimentary identity protection services through IDX: 12 months of credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1,000,000 insurance reimbursement policy, and fully managed id theft recovery services.”
