CSC ServiceWorks, a prominent provider of commercial laundry services and air vending solutions, is reporting a data breach that resulted from a cyberattack in 2023.

The incident was discovered on February 4, 2024, when the company detected unusual activity on its network. A subsequent investigation by external cybersecurity experts revealed that the attackers had unauthorized access to some of CSC ServiceWorks' computer systems from September 23, 2023, to February 4, 2024.

The breach exposed sensitive personal information, including:

  • Full name, date of birth, and contact information,
  • Government identification numbers (e.g., Social Security number, driver's license number),
  • Financial information (e.g., bank account and routing numbers),
  • Health insurance information and limited medical information,
  • Children's personal information in some cases.

The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed.

Update - CSC confirmed that the data breach affected at least 35,340 individuals

Since June 17, 2024 CSC ServiceWorks has been working to notify affected individuals.

CSC ServiceWorks is offering affected individuals a free Experian IdentityWorks membership to monitor potential misuse of their personal information. The company has also implemented additional security measures to prevent future incidents and notified law enforcement authorities about the breach.
