The Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office in Georgia was hit by a cyberattack on June 11, 2025, forcing the closure of all physical office locations for five days while authorities investigate the incident and recover systems.

The affected office serves four counties in eastern Georgia - Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties - with a combined population of approximately 180,000 residents.

The attack was intercepted by Georgia Technologies, the office's IT contractor, preventing what officials described as potentially "catastrophic data loss." District Attorney Busbee immediately notified multiple agencies and judicial partners about the incident. Busbee stated that they were "extremely lucky" that no active case files were compromised, with the potential of losing terabytes worth of data.

The nature of the attack is not disclosed. According to officials, no significant data was compromised due to the rapid detection and response to the attack.

Court operations continued largely uninterrupted because the office maintained physical copies of case files. During the five-day closure period, staff had limited ability to check emails and appear in court, but essential court proceedings proceeded using paper documentation.
