De La Salle University (DLSU) recently reported a significant data security breach affecting its servers. The incident was first reported by the Information Technology Services Office on Monday, Oct. 9 2023.
As a precautionary measure, external traffic to several systems was blocked, impacting Animo.Sys platform, MLS, Oracle Fusion, and the Business Process Management System, among other local applications not open to the public.
The university further confirmed the nature of the breach on Tuesday, Oct. 10, revealing that they had sought external expertise for help. To safeguard against further vulnerabilities, the university instructed all its employees to change their passwords for Google Workspace accounts and activated two-factor authentication. Staff were also advised not to use their local PCs, hinting at the possibility of malware spreading across the network.
