DragonForce ransomware gang claims to have targeted the Aussizz Group, an Australia-based consultancy firm specializing in global immigration and education services.
The gang claims to have infiltrated Aussizz's systems and extracted 278.91 gigabytes of data. The breach was announced on DragonForce's dark web leak site and subsequently reported by various cybersecurity news outlets and social media channels.
Given Aussizz Group's operations involving visa and citizenship applications for countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK, and Canada, the stolen data could be highly sensitive.
As of now, there has been no confirmation from Aussizz Group regarding the veracity of the attack, the specifics of the stolen data, or the impact. DragonForce has set a ransom deadline for April 19.
Update - As of 30th of April, the Aussizz Group, formally reported a potential data breach with company data allegedly stolen and published by cybercriminals. No reference is made to the DragonForce website, but it's most probably the same event. The company is actively working with external experts and government agencies to investigate and manage the incident. The Australian Federal Police has also been notified.
