The direct debit processing firm London & Zurich has become the latest target of a ransomware attack, causing significant turmoil for numerous businesses and leading to a considerable backlog in payments. A managed service provider disclosed that it has incurred a staggering backlog of over $124,000 due to the attack.

Initiated on November 10th, the cyberattack disrupted the firm's operational capabilities, leading to communication failures and intensified financial pressures for companies dependent on London & Zurich's direct debit services.

London & Zurich has launched an investigation with external cybersecurity professionals. The firm took actions to mitigate the effects of the attack, which includes cutting off the compromised servers' access. Efforts are underway to construct new servers within a secure and uncontaminated environment. The firm has committed to keeping stakeholders informed with timely updates when appropriate.

This security breach has been reported to the relevant regulatory authorities, such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
