Enbridge Gas is actively addressing a data security incident from seven months ago, which has recently come to light, involving a breach at one of their third-party service providers. The breach impacted select commercial, industrial, and residential customers.

The breach, which occurred around May 31, has impacted CLEAResult, a third-party vendor associated with Enbridge Gas. Enbridge was not fully informed about the extent of the data breach until November 16.

The compromised data includes customer:

  • names,
  • service addresses,
  • account numbers.

Although all details are not fully disclosed, Enbridge emphasized that no personal information, such as financial data or Social Security numbers, was compromised in the breach.

In response to this breach, Enbridge Gas is taking a series of steps to protect affected customers and prevent future incidents. These measures include direct communication with the customers impacted by the data breach and enhanced internal monitoring of customer accounts to detect any unusual activities.
