Family & Community Services reports ransomware attack, data breach

Family & Community Services Inc. (FCS), a non-profit healthcare and social services organization, is reporting a ransomware attack that potentially compromised sensitive personal and protected health information of thousands of individuals. 

The organization discovered the security breach on May 22, 2025, when internal monitoring systems detected that unauthorized actors may have compromised their computer systems.

The cyberattack was claimed by the Qilin ransomware group, who claim they had obtained organizational data from Family & Community Services. Family & Community Services engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm to conduct an investigation. The investigation and review process is still ongoing, but the organization chose to notify the public proactively due to the potential that sensitive personal information may have been accessed.

The compromised data may include:

  • Names and physical addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Health information and medical records
  • reatment information and clinical records
  • Financial information and account details

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.

The organization has established a dedicated call center for individuals with questions or concerns about the breach. Affected individuals can contact the support line at 1-888-844-1165, which is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Those whose sensitive information is confirmed to be impacted will receive a formal notice letter detailing the specific types of data involved in the breach.
