Franklin County in Washington hit by cyber attack

Franklin County, Washington officials are in the process of restoring online servers following a cyberattack that occurred on Thursday 27th of June 2024 .
Emergency Management Director Sean Davis reported that, thanks to the swift actions of the Franklin County Information Technology Department, the hackers were unable to breach the servers or access any data.
No details are disclosed about the nature of the attack.
Upon detecting unusual activity, the IT department took all systems offline and began a systematic process of bringing them back online one by one to identify and isolate the source of the attack. While most systems have been restored, the system that was directly targeted remains offline for maintenance and further investigation.
The county has received support from external agencies, including Homeland Security, which has sent an agent to assess the situation.
Per claims from the county, no data was stolen during the attack.
