Group 1001 Subsidiaries report Data Breach after Ransomware Attack

In March 2023, Group 1001 reported a ransomware attack on its website, and subsequently, two of its subsidiaries filed data breach notices.
The cause of the Group 1001 data breach is still being investigated, but is probably related to the ransomware attack on February 9, 2023. The company took immediate action by isolating and securing its system and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, it was discovered that hackers gained access to and removed specific files from Group 1001's computer network. Some of these files contained confidential information related to employees and customers of First Security Benefit Life Insurance and Annuity Company.
Group 1001 reviewed the compromised files and confirmed that sensitive consumer data was accessible to the unauthorized party. The breach exposed sensitive information, including:
- names,
- addresses,
- dates of birth,
- Social Security numbers of consumers.
Following the investigation, Group 1001 sent data breach notification letters to affected individuals. The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
