Societe Francaise Du Radiotelephone (SFR), a leading telecommunications company in France and the third-largest telecom provider in the country, has reportedly been targeted by a cyberattack. The alleged breach, claimed to have occurred on July 12, 2024, was executed by a hacker identified as “KevAdams.”

The hacker asserts that 1,445,683 landline users' data has been compromised. KevAdams posted the breached data on the dark web marketplace Breachforums, including sample records with timestamps from July 2024.

The hacker has offered the entire database for sale at $300, or exclusively to one buyer for $850, requesting payment in Monero (XMR) or Litecoin (LTC). He also mentioned that the sale thread would be deleted after the exclusive price is paid.

Information allegedly exposed includes

  • First names
  • Last names
  • Phone numbers
  • Addresses
  • Latitude and longitude coordinates
  • Subscription details
  • Redlist status

As of now, SFR has not confirmed the breach and the hacker has not disclosed any details of the attack. The very low price for the offered data indicates high probability of a scam based on some scraped or randomly generated data.

Users of SFR should nonetehless change passwords and login credentials for accounts linked to SFR services and be careful of phishing attempts.
