Ansell Limited, a manufacturer of personal protective equipment headquartered in Australia, is reporting a cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized access to company data, including confidential transactional information and personally identifiable information.
The breach was caused by the exploitation of vulnerabilities in third-party software. Ansell claims that the intrusion was limited in scope and did not impact the broader company environment.
Ansell stated that the majority of data accessed during the breach consisted of non-sensitive business information but confirmed that a portion of the compromised dataset contains sensitive information:
- Confidential transactional data
- Personally identifiable information (PII)
The company did not name the vulnerable software but the timing makes it possible that the breach is related to Oracle E-Business Suite exploits. The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Ansell is investigating the breach and coordinating with regulators and has committed to provide updates as its investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
