Hunter Health Clinic in Wichita, Kansas is reporting a data security incident involving unauthorized access to an employee email account that potentially compromised sensitive patient information. 

According to the clinic's statement, an unauthorized party gained access to an employee email account between September 27 and September 30, 2024. Hunter Health contained the threat and launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity professionals. 

The investigation and document review concluded on May 1, 2025. The clinic determined that certain files containing protected health information and personally identifiable information were stored in the compromised account and may have been subject to unauthorized access. The exposed data includes:

  • Full names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • State identification and other government identification numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Medical and clinical information
  • Patient account numbers
  • Health insurance information

The number of affected individuals has not been disclosed.

The healthcare provider began notifying potentially affected individuals on May 15, 2025, 

The clinic has established a dedicated phone line for patients who have questions about the breach or wish to determine if their information was affected. Concerned individuals who haven't received a notice can call 1-877-547-9047 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
