A hacker going under the pseudonym IntelBroker has claimed responsibility for infiltrating the database of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). and is leaking a data set of approximately 2.5 million records.

IntelBroker made the breach public via Breach Forums, a notorious platform known for sharing details of cybercrimes and hacking incidents. Despite the breach being attributed to a user named "kwillsy" in the forum, IntelBroker has clarified their sole responsibility for the hack. The method of breach involved exploiting a vulnerability in the CRM system used by LAX.

The breach, which reportedly occurred in February 2024, specifically targeted confidential data belonging to private plane owners, without affecting any customer or traveler information.

The stolen records encompass a range of sensitive data, including:

  • Full names of individuals
  • CPA numbers, which likely refer to unique identifiers within the aviation industry
  • Email addresses, with a count of 1.9 million, though the actual number is 158,000 after deduplication
  • Names of companies associated with the private planes
  • Model numbers of the planes
  • Tail numbers, which serve as identification numbers painted on aircraft tails

LAX authorities have not commented nor provided any information.
