Japan Airlines (JST) is hit by a significant cyber incident that disrupts its critical operations. The attack impacted systems connecting internal networks, JSTs mobile application, baggage handling systems and external communication tools, forcing the airline to suspend ticket sales and causing widespread flight delays.
At least 24 domestic flights delayed by over 30 minutes, International flights faced disruptions and ticket sales were suspended for both domestic and international flights.
JAL has identified and addressed the root cause, which was attributed to a network router being overwhelmed by a large volume of data transmission.
The airline claims there was no customer data leakage or virus damage. While ticket sales have resumed, standby services at airports for domestic flights remained suspended.
