The Ministry of National Security of Jamaica has confirmed that a cyber incident has impacted access to the JamaicaEye website.

JamaicaEye program, launched in 2018, allows citizens and business owners to voluntarily contribute their camera feeds to the national surveillance system, aimed at combating crime and enhancing public safety.

The ministry is clarifying that there has been no compromise to the video footage or evidence recorded by the JamaicaEye cameras. The website is not connected to the central infrastructure of the surveillance system.

That being said, the website is used to register partners and the ministry cannot confirm if data related to partner registrations has been accesses and to what extent.

A team assembled from various Jamaica authorities is currently assessing the breach and conducting investigations.
