Johns Hopkins University and its affiliated medical system including Johns Hopkins All Children's hospital have reported that a recent cybersecurity attack on widely used software, MOVEit, may have exposed sensitive information of students, staff, faculty, and patients.
While the scope of the breach is still being investigated in collaboration with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts, Johns Hopkins believes that personal and financial information may have been impacted, including:
- names,
- contact details
- health billing records,
Fortunately, patient medical records, however, were unaffected.
Affected individuals will be notified, and Johns Hopkins will offer resources such as credit monitoring services.
In the meantime, those affiliated with Johns Hopkins are advised to monitor their bank accounts and credit reports, be cautious of suspicious emails or messages, consider placing fraud alerts with credit bureaus, and enroll in credit monitoring services.
