Justice Resource Institute, Inc. (“JRI”) reported a data breach after the discovery that confidential consumer information had been accessed by an unauthorized party.
Justice Resource Institute, Inc. based in Needham, Massachusetts is an organization that provides outpatient mental and physical healthcare services aimed at underserved communities. Services offered by JRI include behavioral health clinics, trauma services, foster care, childhood services, health and housing programs, and educational and residential services.
The data breach was first identified on February 15, 2024, when JRI discovered that an unauthorized party had accessed certain computer systems. The investigation confirmed that portions of the network containing confidential consumer information had been accessed and that some data had been acquired by the unauthorized party.
The breach resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive consumer information, including:
- Names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- Medical record information
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
On June 18, 2024, JRI sent data breach notification letters to all affected individuals, detailing the types of information that were compromised.
