Kaplan North America, a provider of educational and professional training services, reports a significant data breach on March 18, 2026, following an investigation into unauthorized network access.
The incident took place over a three-week period between October 30, 2025, and November 18, 2025. The attacker accessd and stole files from internal servers. Kaplan engaged external cybersecurity specialists to conduct an investigation which concluded on February 21, 2026.
The compromised data includes:
- Full names
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
The breach affected at least 19,075 residents in Maine, 173,676 in Texas, and 2,045 in Rhode Island. The total number of affected individuals is approximately 194,796 based on state-specific disclosures, but there may be other affected individuals in other states. The nature of the attack and the total number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
The company began mailing formal notification letters to impacted individuals on March 17, 2026. Kaplan is providing 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services.
