The Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville (FCSLLG) has experienced a privacy breach, impacting its clients, including children under their care. The recent breach was caused by an unauthorized party gaining access to a single employee's email account, prompting an investigation with cybersecurity experts.
The incident involves unauthorized access to personal information including:
- full names,
- case types,
- kinship service(s),
- dates of kinship service(s),
- Child Protection Identification Numbers (CPIN).
All potentially affected individuals have been notified, alongside the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. FCSLLG has not disclosed the number of affected individuals.
Although FCSLLG has stated there is no evidence that the accessed information was misused, the breach has raised significant concerns among affected individuals.
