The breach was detected due to unusual activity between July 14 and July 27, 2023. Upon discovering this breach, Conrade took actions to secure the compromised email account and initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the scope of the data exposure.
The investigation revealed that various emails and attachments in the employee's email account contained sensitive consumer information, making it accessible to an unauthorized party. Specific types of exposed consumer data include:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license or government identification numbers
- Financial account numbers

Conrade Insurance started notifying all affected individuals through data breach with letters sent out on February 26, 2024.
