Lennar Corp., a homebuilder based in Miami has reported a customer data breach. Lennar detected unauthorized activity in its IT system in July 2023.
A total of 7,448 customers across the United States were impacted by this breach. The company attributed the breach to hacking, suggesting that it was the result of malicious activities by external actors. No further details are disclosed about the nature of the attack.
While the breach did potentially expose some of their customers' personal information, there is currently no indication that this information has been misused.
In response, Lennar implemented protective measures to halt this unauthorized activity and informed law enforcement agencies. As part of its response to the data breach, Lennar is offering impacted customers a 24-month membership to Experian IdentityWorks, a service that provides credit monitoring and identity restoration at no cost.
