Choco Media Entertainment Co., the authorized service provider for Line TV in Taiwan, reported a data breach on February 6, 2026.
The incident occurred between January 24 and January 26, 2026. Attackers used a system vulnerability to breach the platform's backend servers. The breach remained active for approximately 48 hours before detection on January 26.
Choco Media Entertainment has not disclosed the specific nature of the vulnerability, but confirmed that the flaw allowed for the theft of various user profile attributes and historical records. The compromised data includes:
- User IDs and nicknames
- Email addresses and phone numbers
- Hashed passwords
- Encrypted physical addresses
- Birthdays and profile photos
- Order records and transaction history
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
The company notified Taiwanese authorities. Choco Media Entertainment worked with an external cybersecurity firm to patch the vulnerability and review for other risks.
The company is offering 14 days of free access to standard users and 60 days to VIP subscribers.
Security experts recommend that affected users change their passwords on other services if they used the same ones and monitor their accounts for unusual activity.
