Regis Resources, a major gold producer in Australia, is investingating into a cyber attack on its branch, McPhillamys Gold.

The Lynx ransomware group claimed the attack and listed  the branch on its dark web leak site in early January 2026. The group claims they broke into the systems, but the company says its security tools caught the move early and prevented any damage.

The investigation did not detect any data theft. The Lynx group also did not ask for a ransom payment. Regis Resources reported the incident to the Australian government but did not report any monetary loss or work stoppages.

The company is monitoring its networks for any new threats.
