Medusind, a Miami-based medical billing provider servicing over 6,000 healthcare providers across the United States and India, has disclosed a significant data breach affecting 360,934 individuals. The incident occurred over a year ago - in December 2023,

The breach was discovered when suspicious activity was detected on Medusind's network in December 2023. Tthe company took affected systems offline and engaged a cybersecurity forensics firm for investigation. The investigation revealed that cybercriminals had potentially copied files containing sensitive information. Exposed data includes:

  • Insurance policy numbers
  • Claims/benefits information
  • Payment information
  • Debit/credit card numbers
  • Bank account information
  • Health information
  • Medical history
  • Medical record numbers
  • Prescription information
  • Government identification
  • Social Security numbers
  • Taxpayer ID numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Personal information
  • Dates of birth
  • Email addresses
  • Physical addresses
  • Phone numbers

The nature of the attack is not disclosed.

Medusind is offering affected individuals two years of free Kroll identity monitoring services, which include credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration.
