Learn More

A data breach involving the personal data of over 2 million individuals has been reported in Kazakhstan. The breach is traced back to Robo.finance, a platform holding data for more than 3.6 million clients across various microfinance organizations.

No details are disclosed about the nature of the breach or exposed data.

The individuals impacted in this breach are identified as past clients of the microfinance organization zaimer.kz. The State Technical Service uncovered the breach and informed the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MDDIAI).

The MDDIAI has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the breach by utilizing the state application eGov Mobile to notify citizens whose data may have been compromised. These notifications include recommendations and instructions to help affected individuals navigate the potential risks posed by the data leak.

In an effort to assess the full extent of the breach and to determine appropriate legal actions against the responsible parties, the Ministry of Finance has urged individuals who received the notification but have never been clients of the implicated microfinance organization to contact the MDDIAI Information Security Committee.
