Mt. Baker Imaging and Northwest Radiologists are reporting a data breach that potentially exposed sensitive patient information.
The company provides various imaging services, including ultrasounds, MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, and 3D mammograms, with Northwest Radiologists physicians interpreting the images.
The incident was reported in a March 26 blog post, describing what they had previously characterized as a "computer network disruption" in January. During the breach an unauthorized party gained access to their systems, potentially compromising protected health information. The potentially exposed data includes:
- Names
- Addresses
- Social Security numbers
- Treatment information
- Health insurance information
The nature of the attack and number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Northwest/MBI continues to review who was affected and what specific data was accessed. The company has hired identity privacy protection firm IDX to provide call center services for concerned community members, but representatives have been unable to provide specific information about which patients were affected or when the review would be completed.
Once the review is complete, Mt. Baker Imaging states they will mail letters to affected individuals.
Update - as of 4th of August 2025, Northwest Radiologists reports that the incident exposed the personal information of 348,118 residents of Washington State. The exposed data includes:
- first and last name
- address information
- telephone number
- date of birth
- email address
- Social Security number
- driver’s license or state identification card number,
- treatment or diagnosis information,
- provider name,
- medical record number or patient identification number,
- health insurance information, and/or treatment cost information.
The company claims that they currently have no reason to believe that your information has been or will be misused as a result of this incident.
As of 31st of October, Mt. Baker Imaging and Northwest Radiologists, the company sent out letters to those potentially impacted.
