An advertising firm based in Kurla, Mumbai has fallen victim to a ransomware attack. The company's entire data repository was encrypted. Criminals are demanding a ransom of 425,000 rupees (approximately $5,100 USD) in Bitcoin to decrypt.

The cyberattack occurred earlier this month, was discovered when employees began experiencing login issues across internal systems, with password reset attempts failing as attackers had compromised the company's network infrastructure.

The investigation discovered the attack had completely wiped the company's data repository and left a Word document on the compromised server. The document revealed that attackers had infiltrated the company's Network Attached Storage (NAS) system, stealing critical data before encrypting it. The attack appears to have compromised:

  • All data stored on the company's Network Attached Storage (NAS)
  • Critical business data
  • Access credentials for internal systems

No details are disclosed about the number of affected individuals. The company reported the incident to the authorities.
