Canada's National Gallery which holds more than 75000 works of art along with extensive library and archival holdings reported that it's undergoing recovery efforts after a ransomware attack. Members were notified of the incident by email, assuring them that no private information, including member files or payment details, was compromised. The attack was discovered after an IT interruption on April 23, prompting the gallery to take immediate actions, including network isolation, creating backups, and initiating a forensic investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts. The National Gallery, located in Ottawa, operates as a federal Crown corporation with an approximate budget of $37 million.
