Two Passaic County medical organizations have notified patients about a data breach that compromised protected health information. Passaic Hospitalist Services in Paterson and Passaic River Physicians in Wayne are mailing notification letters on Wednesday 17th of Septemner 2025 to affected patients whose personal and medical information may have been involved in the security incident.
The data breach was discovered on September 11, 2025. The investigation determined that unauthorized parties had gained access to certain computer systems and successfully acquired files containing patient information between May 22 and May 23, 2025.
The compromised data potentially includes:
- Dates of birth
- Physical addresses
- Medical diagnosis information
- Healthcare provider names
- Dates of medical services
- Treatment information and medical records
- Health insurance information
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals has not been disclosed. Since two different organizations are reporting an incident, it's possible that a third party provider used by the companies has been breached.
Both Passaic Hospitalist Services and Passaic River Physicians have established a dedicated support hotline for affected patients who have concerns about the data breach.
