Numotion Data Breach: email compromise affects nearly 500,000 individuals
Learn More
Tennessee-based Numotion, a provider of wheelchairs and mobility solutions, is reporting a data breach affecting approximately 494,000 individuals. The breach involved unauthorized access to several employee email accounts.
Numotion discovered that multiple employee email accounts were compromised on several occasions between September 2, 2024, and November 18, 2024. The investigation on January 22, 2025 confirmed that certain emails within the compromised accounts contained sensitive customer information. The compromised information included:
- Names
- Dates of birth
- Product information
- Payment and financial account information
- Medical information
- Health insurance details
- Social Security numbers (for a minority of affected individuals)
- Driver's license numbers (for a minority of affected individuals)
Numotion claims that they have "no reason to believe that any personal information has been misused for the purpose of committing fraud or identity theft." The company advised affected individuals to remain vigilant by monitoring account statements and credit reports closely to protect against potential fraud or identity theft.
Given that Numotion serves approximately 400,000 customers according to their website, this suggests that the breach may impact all of their customers and potentially some former customers.
