Omni Family Health reports data breach of current and former patients data

Omni Family Health is reporting a data breach after discovering that sensitive company data had been posted on the dark web. Omni Family Health, based in Bakersfield, California, operates 39 locations and serves patients across Kern, Kings, Tulare, and Fresno counties.
The incident was first detected on August 7, 2024, when Omni learned that hackers had claimed to have stolen data from the company’s systems and posted it online. Omni secured its systems and launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts.
The investigation revealed that the compromised data included information related to both patients and employees. The exposed data inlcudes:
- Names,
- Addresses,
- Social Security numbers,
- Dates of birth,
- Health insurance plan information, and
- Medical information.
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Update - as of 18th of October 2024, Omni Family Health reports it is notifying approximately 470,000 individuals that their personal information was stolen in the cyberattack.
