Orange Belgium hit by cyberattack, exposing personal data of 850K customers

Orange Belgium, the subsidiary of French telecom giant Orange Group, reports a cyberattack that compromised personal data from 850,000 customer accounts. 

The incident was detected at the end of July 2025. The nature of the attack has not been disclosed by Orange Belgium. The company confirmed that attackers gained access to one of its IT systems containing customer information.

The compromised data includes

  • Names (surname and first name)
  • Telephone numbers
  • SIM card numbers
  • PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) codes
  • Tariff plan information

Orange Belgium's security teams blocked access to the affected system and reported to the authorities. Affected customers are being notified through email and text messages.

Due to the ongoing investigation, Orange Belgium has stated that no further details will be disclosed to ensure the integrity of the investigation and protect the privacy of those involved.

Update - As of 22nd of August 2025, a group called Warlock has claimed responsibility and posted four gigabytes of allegedly stolen data on the dark web. Orange claims that the stolen information is only “outdated or low-sensitivity” data, so users don't need to worry.
