The Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services reports that approximately 3.5 million driver's license and identification card files were compromised in a hacking incident that occurred two weeks ago.

The breach is affecting around 90% of the state's driver's license and ID card records, prompting the agency to advise the public to monitor their credit reports for signs of fraudulent activity, around 3.5 million people.

the breach was attributed to a global hack of the data transfer software MOVEit Transfer. The agency delayed informing the public due to security concerns and preparations.

It is confirmed that sensitive personal information on license and ID card holders had been compromised, although more specific data points were not disclosed

Individuals who suspect they have been affected were advised to request free credit reports and check for any unfamiliar transactions or accounts, to consider freezing their credit files through the respective credit monitoring agencies and to monitor their personal credit reports.
