Aurora National Life Assurance Company, a Missouri-based insurance company, reported data breach after a security incident involving a third-party vendor.
The cause of the data breach originated from a notification received on June 28, 2023, from one of Aurora's third-party vendors. In response to the notification, Aurora launched a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the extent of the unauthorized access and potential exposure of consumer data
The investigation revealed that the unauthorized party had gained access to confidential consumer data provided to Aurora during the period between May 29, 2023, and May 30, 2023. The unauthorized party accessed sensitive information belonging to consumers, including their names and Social Security numbers.
It's estimated that more than 48,000 individuals are exposed in this data breach.
The data breach notification process was initiated by Aurora National to inform all individuals whose information was affected by the recent security incident.
