Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut (OSC), based in Brookfield, Connecticut, is reporting a  data security incident affecting their patient database. 

On March 2, 2025, an unauthorized third party gained access to OSC's network environment, potentially exposing sensitive patient information. After detecging the unauthorized access, OSC  implemented security measures to protect their network environment and engaged a specialized third-party team to assist with securing the network and investigating the incident. The investigation confirmed that  personal information may have been acquired by the unauthorized party during the incident, including:

  • First and last names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Health insurance ID numbers
  • Medical information

 The data breach affected approximately 22,541 individuals. The nature of the attack is not disclosed.

The healthcare provider officially reported the incident to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on April 24, 2025, and issued a formal notification to affected individuals on April 23, 2025. OSC claims they have not received any reports of misuse of information or related identity theft since the incident was discovered.

OSC is arranging complimentary credit monitoring services and identity theft protection services for all potentially impacted individuals for a period of twelve months and is established a dedicated call center (1-844-534-6032) operating Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, to address questions and concerns from affected individuals
