Entertainment Partners, a company handling payroll and residuals payments in the entertainment industry, suffered a significant data breach at the end of June, exposing the confidential details of nearly 500,000 individuals.

Per the information from Entertainment Partners the breach's origin involved a sophisticated threat actor that bypassed the company's cybersecurity defenses to access database files containing individuals' information. Which really means that Entertainment Partners haven't disclosed any details about the attack or the exploited vulnerability. The breach was contained to a subset of the client-application network.

The breached information encompassed sensitive details like

  • full names,
  • mailing addresses,
  • tax ID numbers,
  • Social Security numbers.

The security incident started on June 30 and led to the temporary unavailability of certain applications over the July 4th holiday weekend. Law enforcement was promptly notified, and cybersecurity experts were engaged to mitigate the breach's impact and restore affected systems.
