The Play ransomware group claims to have successfully infiltrated Study Hotels' systems, resulting in the exfiltration of sensitive information. The threat actors published a post on their data leak site threatening to release all stolen data if the company fails to pay the demanded ransom by Tuesday.
According to the ransomware group's claims, the compromised information includes:
- Private and personal confidential information
- Budget documents
- Payroll data
- Client files
- Tax information
- Personal identification documents
- Financial details
The number of affected individuals are not disclosed.
In their announcement, Play ransomware issued explicit threats regarding the potential consequences if Study Hotels refuses to meet their demands: "We will notify your partners and customers... Journalists and others will dig into your documents... Your shares will fall... some organizations will be forced to close."
Study Hotels has not publicly commented on the alleged attack or indicated whether they intend to comply with the ransom demands.
