The Port of Rijeka, Croatia's major maritime facility, experienced a cyberattack during a the weekend of 30th Nov-1st De 2024. The 8Base ransomware group claiming responsibility for the breach.

The port's operations have been restored to normal functionality through the implementation of backup systems, which enabled complete data recovery.

The attackers reportedly exfiltrated sensitive data including:

  • Financial and accounting records
  • Personal information
  • Employment contracts
  • Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)

The number of affected individuals or entities has not been disclosed

The incident was confirmed by Port CEO Duško Grabovac to Croatian media outlet Novi list. The port's management has confirmed they have not paid the ransom demanded by the attackers. The ransomware group has set a deadline of December 10, 2024, for ransom payment.
