Rogers and Fido Confirm Data Breach Possibly Affecting Millions of Customer Records

Rogers Communications and its subsidiary Fido confirmed a data breach on March 24, 2026, after a discovery of an intrusion through its internal cybersecurity monitoring systems.
An attacker accessed systems containing subscriber metadata and is offering to sell the stolen records. The duration of the attackers' presence on the network are not disclosed. Rogers isolated the affected systems and initiated a review to identify and notify impacted customers.
The company confirmed the following data was compromised:
- Customer names
- Contact details
- Account numbers
- Language preferences
The attacker claims additional data types were stolen:
- Full billing addresses
- Home phone numbers
- Account types and subscriber statuses
- Aliases
The attacker claims 10,900,000 recorts are stolen, a number that's not confirmed by the operator. The nature of the attack is not disclosed. Rogers maintains that sensitive data, including Social Insurance Numbers (SIN), dates of birth, and financial information, was not accessed.
The company is working with law enforcement and regulatory bodies to address the breach and verify the authenticity of the data being offered for sale.
