Shell reports their Australia unit impacted by MOVEit data breach

Shell Plc disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving certain employees formerly associated with its unit BG Group in Australia prior to a merger, joining the growing list of victims affected by the MOVEit hack. Shell's acquisition of BG Group Plc in 2016 for $70 billion bolstered its global portfolio, integrating various oil and gas projects across countries such as Brazil and Australia.

Shell was one of the first companies to report being breached by MOVEit vulnerability.

The MOVEit software, primarily used for secure data transfers, has recently been a target, impacting various businesses worldwide and compromising sensitive data.

The breach involved unauthorized access to personal information dating back to 2013, prompting Shell to notify them about the incident despite the historical nature of the data. Although the data is outdated, there remains a risk of identity theft and targeted phishing campaigns against the impacted individuals.
