HomeTeamNS, a Singapore-based non-profit organization with over 260,000 members, was hit by a ransomware attack on February 25, 2025, that impacted several of its servers containing sensitive data.
The organization was established in 2005 to recognize the contributions of national servicemen from the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.
The affected servers were immediately disabled and isolated from the IT network, passwords for all administrative accounts have been changed, and third-party cybersecurity experts were engaged to investigate and remediate the incident.
The compromised servers contained:
- Data of current employees
- Data of former employees
- Vehicle details of some HomeTeamNS members
- Vehicle details of some affiliate members
No details are disclosed about the number of affected individuals. HomeTeamNS's claims that there is currently no evidence of data extraction, though they continue to monitor the situation closely.
Affected individuals have been contacted and offered assistance to protect themselves from phishing and unauthorized transactions. HomeTeamNS is working closely with authorities, including the police and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), to investigate and address the situation.
