Between August 2023 and June 2024, SLIM CD, a payment gateway provider based in Coral Springs, Florida, experienced a significant data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and financial information of over 1.7 million customers.

Slim CD is a provider of payment processing solutions that enables businesses to access electronic and card payments via web-based terminals, mobile, or desktop apps.

SLIM CD confirmed that unauthorized individuals had gained access to their network, potentially stealing a wide range of personal and credit card information, including:

  • Names,
  • Addresses,
  • Credit card numbers,
  • Card expiration dates.

The breach was detailed in a "Data Event" notice issued by the company.

SLIM CD did not disclose the specific method used by the attackers to gain access. The breach has exposed over 1.7 million customers. To help mitigate the risks associated with the breach, SLIM CD has promised to provide affected customers with free credit monitoring services.

SLIM CD is urging customers to freeze their credit reports to prevent new accounts from being opened in their name, change passwords to all accounts, especially those linked to financial transactions and monitor accounts for suspicious activity or unauthorized transactions.
