Towne Mortgage Company, a mortgage lender headquartered in Troy, Michigan, reports a data breach following a ransomware attack.
The incident was detected on June 7, 2025, when the company discovered unauthorized access to its network. The investigation with cybersecurity professionals confirmed that customer data may have been stolen from its systems.
On July 30, 2025, BlackByte ransomware gang claimed responsibility for the attack and posted sample data from Towne Mortgage on its dark web portal.
The exposed data types and number of affected individuals have not been disclosed.
The breach was reported on November 14, 2025, and affected individuals are being notified. Towne Mortgage Company is offering complimentary 24-month credit monitoring, single bureau credit reports, and credit score services.
