SouthState Bank, a major financial institution in South Carolina, is reporting a cybersecurity breach that compromised certain customer account information.
The breach is detected on February 6, 2024, and prompted incident management actions including isolating parts of its network to prevent further unauthorized activity. Following the incident, SouthState performed an investigation with the assistance of a cybersecurity firm and reported the breach to both government authorities and law enforcement.
The compromised data includes:
- customers' names,
- financial account numbers,
- Social Security numbers
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
