Townsquare Media Hit By Ransomware Attack

Learn More

Townsquare Media, an American radio network and media company based in Purchase, New York has experienced a cyberattack for the second time in five years.

This time with hacker collective ALPHV is claiming responsibility for gaining unauthorized access to a significant amount of data, including files from the company's servers and workstations.

The hackers claim to have stolen 251 GB of the company’s data, and caused some stations to lose their music libraries and produced commercials.

The hackers have given Townsquare a deadline to "resolve the situation" - meaning paying ransom and are threatening to publicly release all of the company's data if no action is taken.

No details are available as to the nature of the data stolen in the attack and whether it includes personal sensitive information of individuals.

This follows a similar attack on Amaturo Sonoma Media, causing several of their stations to be temporarily taken off the air.
