TransUnion Risk and Alternative Data Solutions (TRADS) reports a data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party had gained access to its computer network.

TRADS is a subsidiary of TransUnion, a global consumer credit reporting agency. TRADS focuses on providing alternative data and risk assessment services.

The breach was initially detected when TRADS noticed unusual activity within its network. An internal investigation was launched on July 24, 2024, which concluded on September 10, 2024, confirming that unauthorized access had compromised files associated with several TransUnion products.

The breach exposed sensitive consumer data, including:

  • Names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • Dates of birth.

TRADS did not disclose the total number of individuals affected or the nature of the attack. The company has started sending data breach notification letters to those affected.
