TriHealth is reporting a data breac exposing historical records from "For Women," an OB-GYN group that joined TriHealth in January 2020.
TriHealth is a Cincinnati-based, non-profit healthcare system offering comprehensive medical services through its hospitals, outpatient centers, and wellness programs across the Greater Cincinnati area.
The breach was the result of unauthorized access to electronic documents stored by one of TriHealth’s third-party vendors, and it impacted data collected prior to For Women's integration with TriHealth. The company claims it’s own network and records created after For Women joined were not affected.
The breached files contained sensitive patient information, including:
- Names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- Claims information
- Clinical information, such as:
- Medical conditions
- Medications
- Lab results
- Other treatment details
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
While TriHealth does not believe any of the compromised information has been used for fraud or identity theft, they are taking precautions by sending notification letters to potentially affected individuals and offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
