UK-based broadband internet service provider Brsk has suffered a data breach affecting 230,105 customer records. The compromised database has reportedly been listed for sale on hacking forums and a threat actor is advertising the dataset and offering it for negotiation via direct message.

The breach was first identified by DailyDarkWeb, a volunteer community that monitors cyber threats and has previously uncovered similar incidents involving UK telecommunications companies. The exposed data includes:

  • Names and surnames
  • Email addresses
  • Physical addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Installation and booking details
  • Brsk ID numbers
  • Location data
  • Vulnerable user status indicators (including customers with telecare needs)

The nature of the attack is not disclosed.

According to Brsk's official statement, the breach access was limited to one of their customer database systems used to process new installations on the broadband network. The company claims that no financial information, banking details, credit card data, passwords, or account login credentials were compromised.

The company has notified all affected customers via email and is offering 12 months of complimentary personal, financial, and credit monitoring services. Brsk has also informed the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), police, and relevant regulatory authorities.
