USA Health Providence Hospital hit by the Ascension incident

Providence Hospital, part of USA Health is being impacted by the incident at Ascension Healthcare.  Ascension, one of the largest hospital chains in the United States, experienced a ransomware attack on May 8, 2024, affecting its network systems across 14 states and Washington D.C.

The attack has disrupted access to electronic health records, patient portals, and various systems necessary for ordering tests, procedures, and medications.

Providence Hospital, is part of USA Health but still reliant on Ascension's IT infrastructure. As of May 16, Providence Hospital is still experiencing network disruptions. Ascension Technologies is actively investigating, containing, and restoring systems. USA Health has implemented procedures to minimize the impact on patient care and protect patient information.

While progress is being made, there is no clear timeline for the full restoration of services.

There is currently no information on whether sensitive personal data has been accessed during the attack.
